John 'Jack' Weller

Weller

John C. “Jack” Weller, 81, of Lower Burrell, formerly of Edgewater, Fla., and Hooker in Concord Township, died April 28 in the home of his daughter and son-in-law.

He was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Emlenton, the son of Arthur Weller and Ila Faye Ashbaugh.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was retired from Slippery Rock University, where he was the head of the maintenance department.

He loved dogs and enjoyed watching the Steelers, baseball games, playing poker and doing crossword puzzles.

Wherever he went, he could be found playing with the kids, and his grandchildren have many happy memories of their adventures with “Grandpa Jack.”

He is survived by his two daughters, Gail (Terry) Scheftic of Lower Burrell and Glee Weller of Butler; three grandchildren, Stephen (Liz) Scheftic of Lower Burrell, Deborah (Brad) Hurlburt of Boiling Springs, Cumberland County, and William (Martha) Scheftic of Tucson, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Adam Scheftic; and one brother, Ellis (Kay) Weller of Rockland, Venango County.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Weller, in 2010; and brothers, Robert (Viola) Weller, William (Jean) Weller, Harry (Betty) Weller and Ronald Weller.

<B>WELLER </B>—<B> </B>In carrying out the final wishes of John C. “Jack” Weller, who died Thursday, April 28, 2011, there will be no memorial service. However, his family asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
