Robert J. Beneigh

Robert J. “Bob” Beneigh, 86, passed away April 30 in Holland, Mich., while visiting his daughter.

Bob was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany, Ind.

He was an avid Penn State University fan and played football for the Butler Cubs in Butler from 1941 to 1948. During his playing days with the Cubs, he was named MVP and co-captain and was inducted into the Butler, Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.

Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran who served our country during World War II.

Before living in Indiana, he lived in LaGrange, Ga., and Butler.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (Sweesy) Beneigh.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Beneigh (Debbie) of Greenville, Ind., L. Jean Mau (Robert) of Holland, Mich., and Joelyn Niggel (Louis) of Burlington, Vt.; a sister, Marie Horan of Butler; grandchildren, Theresa Mau-Crimmins, Christina (Mau) Williams, Christopher, Michael and Patrick Niggel and David and Nicole Beneigh; and four great-grandchildren.

<B>BENEIGH </B>— A Funeral Mass for Robert J. “Bob” Beneigh, who died Saturday, April 30, 2011, will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. May 11 at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany, Ind., with military honors and entombment to follow at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Meals on Wheels, LifeSpan Resources, P.O.
