Thomas F. Byers
Thomas Frazier Byers, 90, of Summerville, S.C., died Thursday in South Carolina.
Mr. Byers was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Saxonburg to Thomas and Francie Byers.
He attended Saxonburg and Butler schools.
He served in U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Byers grew up as a member of the Summit Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong member of Bull Creek Presbyterian Church in Tarentum. He was a life member of the Low Country Ex-POW Chapter in South Carolina and also a life member of the VFW.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed everything from fishing, hunting, gardening and agriculture.
He retired as a machinist with Blaw Knox Steel, and was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, June Hazlett Byers; two sisters-in-law, Louise H. Cools of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Helen H. Tomayko of Dallas, Texas; nephews and nieces, Michael Tomayko of Dallas, Texas, Michelle Gomez of Dallas, Texas, Gayle Mayberry of Greensboro, N.C., Patty Saunders of Saxonburg, Marsha Cunningham of Cranberry Township and Hal Byers of Las Vegas, Nev.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Byers; and his sister, Oral Byers Brose.
