Madeline Lillian (Carson) Rudisill

Rudisill

Madeline Lillian (Carson) Rudisill, 86, of Evans City, formerly of Valencia, passed away peacefully Sunday in her home after a long illness. She was a patient of the VNA Hospice of Butler and BeHome Partners.

Born Oct. 14, 1924, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late James and Magdalena Anna (Zimmerman) Carson.

She was the beloved wife for 55 years of the late Kenneth W. Rudisill Sr., who she married June 15, 1953. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Carson; and a sister, Bertha Henrietta Carson.

She was the loving mother of Kenneth W. (Debra) Rudisill Jr. of Valencia, Diane (Gordon) Marburger of Evans City and James H. (Sandra) Rudisill Sr. of Monroeville; loving grandmother of Kendal Ann, Kenneth III, Kamron, James Jr., Jessica, Madelynn and Reid with whom she lived. Madeline also was the loving great-grandmother of Sara and Josselyn.

Madeline graduated from Allegheny High School in 1943 with honors and worked for Gimbel’s department store after graduation, taking business classes at the University of Pittsburgh. In 1944, she joined Rust Engineering in Pittsburgh as a secretary and bookkeeper and worked there until 1954 when she became a mother and homemaker.

Madeline was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 65 years and was a Past Worthy Matron of the Northside Chapter 382 and served as Grand Page at the Grand Chapter Session in Pittsburgh in 1952. The Northside Chapter 382 joined the Jephthah Chapter 73 of which she was a member.

She was an active member of the Mount Zion Lutheran Church and was a Sunday school teacher.

Upon moving to southern Butler County in 1960, she joined the Glade Run United Presbyterian Church and was church treasurer for a number of years.

She loved doing crossword puzzles, a hobby introduced to her by her late husband, watching old classic movies and recollecting how she would spend Saturday afternoons at the matinees with her lifelong childhood friend, Viola.

She maintained a keen memory and could easily recall movie titles and actors’ names. Her favorite actor of all time was Clark Gable. She enjoyed long Sunday drives in Butler County, family vacations to the beaches of New Jersey and North Carolina, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters, going to the Butler Farm Show and watching the 4-H shows. She particularly loved dogs, no matter what breed, and they would always have a friend in Madeline.
