Carol Ann O'Donnell, 73, formerly of Seven Fields, died the morning of April 27. Mrs. O'Donnell succumbed to complications due to pulmonary disorders after an extended hospital stay in Knoxville, Tenn., where she resided with family since January 2010.

Born Edwina Carol Bolton in Philadelphia, Aug. 5, 1937, to Edward and Margaret (Dugan) Bolton, Carol graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in Fountain Springs, Pa., in 1955.

She married James Patrick O'Donnell, the love of her life, Sept. 15, 1956, in Philadelphia.

Mrs. O'Donnell earned an associate degree in accounting from the Community College of Allegheny County in 1984 and then graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in finance from La Roche College in Pittsburgh in 1990.

She worked in the accounting department of the North Allegheny School District from 1986 to 2002 and was elected municipal tax collector for Seven Fields in 1992. She was re-elected as tax collector until she retired in December 2009. Carol enjoyed her work and took great pride in serving her community as tax collector for the many terms she held that office.

Mrs. O'Donnell was a longtime member of the St. Kilian Parish in Cranberry Township. Prior to that, she was a member of St. Sebastian Parish in Pittsburgh. After moving to Tennessee, she joined the St. Albert the Great Parish in Knoxville.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Mary Lynne O'Donnell of Oakmont, Sean and Janice O'Donnell of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Tim O'Donnell and Natalie Kurylo of Knoxville, Tenn. She also is survived by her eight grandchildren, Spc. David O'Donnell, Katie, Matt and Kelly O'Donnell of Pennsylvania and Casey, Lindsay, Cody and Dustin O'Donnell of Texas. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Helen Davis of San Diego, Calif.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, the closest of whom were her niece and nephews, Rose Cinkaj of Philadelphia, Terry Cinkaj of Gainesville, Ga., and Chris Cinkaj of Langhorne, Pa.

Mrs. O'Donnell was predeceased by her husband, Jim O'Donnell in 1978; and her half-sister, Beatrice Cinkaj in 1997.

Carol loved to travel, sew, garden, sunbathe and spend time with her family. She was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed the occasional evening at The Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. During the course of her life, she and her husband lived in various parts of Europe, and they spent three years in Brazil with their three young sons, prior to returning to the Pittsburgh area in 1974.

<B>O'DONNELL</B> — A remembrance for Carol Ann O'Donnell, who died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, will be held Friday, May 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seven Fields Community Center on Castle Creek Drive. A Catholic Mass will be said in Carol's honor at the St. Kilian Parish in Mars, at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 27. Her ashes will be inurned at Allegheny County Memorial Park in Allison Park.A gift in memory of Carol Ann O'Donnell may be made to the St. Albert The Great Parish, 7200 Brickey Lane, Knoxville, TN 37918; or to the St. Kilian Parish, 7076 Franklin Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066.
