Doris Wright

Wright

Doris Lowder Wright died at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Charlotte, N.C.

Doris was born in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, N.C., Feb. 14, 1923, to the late Bernie Carlton and Artie Boner Lowder.

She graduated from the R.J. Reynolds High School and attended Salem College, both in Winston-Salem, N.C.

She was a great supporter of the Center Grove Baptist Church in Clemmons, N.C.

She married Ivan Merle “Bud” Wright in St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1946. They had one daughter, Lynette Wright Lillich, who predeceased Doris in death on Aug. 2, 2005. Bud Wright died Sept. 1, 1992.

After Bud's death, Doris moved to Butler to be closer to her daughter, Lyn. Lyn and her husband, Jere, were caregivers to Doris while she lived at Newhaven Assisted Living Center Township.

Doris's siblings also predeceased her. Her sister, Lois Lowder Fox, died Nov. 6, 1976, and her brother, Carlton Boner Lowder, died Nov. 30, 1999. She also was predeceased by her first cousin, Bernice Pegram Doty, who died Nov. 4, 2005.

Doris's world centered on her family, and her family will miss her so much. She loved to read and was an expert at crossword puzzles and Scrabble. When Bud was alive, she lived for their Sunday drives and their time with Honey, their miniature poodle. She and Bud loved to travel by car all across the United States and probably visited all of our beautiful national parks.

Doris is survived by a grandson, John Scarborough, his wife, Amy, and their two children, John Lawrence and Kristin Josephine of Georgia; and grandson, Philip Scarborough, his wife, Virginia, and their daughters, Taylor Lyn and Elizabeth Grace of California; and nieces and nephews, Susan Acosta, Anne Burton, Jan Fox-Cain, Woody Fox and Stephen Lowder.
