NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Westminster College’s Celebrity Series features a 2011-12 season with stars such as Debby Boone and John Tesh.
Kicking off the series will be “An Evening with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood” on Sept. 24. The stars of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” will present an evening of improvisational comedy.
The remainder of the series will feature:
• Debby Boone: Reflections of Rosemary, Oct. 20. Best known for her hit “You Light Up My Life,” Boone will pay musical tribute to her late mother-in-law, the legendary Rosemary Clooney.
• John Tesh’s Big Band Christmas, Dec. 16. The six-time Emmy winner and Grammy nominee will present the Christmas spirit with a 12-piece band and favorite carols arranged with a Big Band feel.
• The Texas Tenors, finalists on “America’s Got Talent,” March 24, 2012. The trio of classically-trained voices will cover the musical spectrum from John Denver to Puccini in a blend of gospel, country, classical and Broadway.
• Ricky Nelson Remembered, April 27, 2012. Starring Nelson’s twin sons Matthew and Gunnar in a tribute to their father, the multimedia event includes video footage of interviews from celebrities influenced by Nelson, who is often called America’s first television heartthrob.
All shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. Season subscriptions are available and single-show tickets may be ordered.
A children’s show, The Golden Dragon Acrobats, is slated for May 9, 2012, and is not part of the season subscription.
Recognized as the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company, the Golden Dragons combine award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques.
