In these difficult economic times, fireworks are a waste of money.

The Island Playground has a pavilion that needs a new roof. Money being used for fireworks could have been donated to the Dunbar Community Center, which now owns the playground and wants to build a community center on that site for the betterment of the city, the Island neighborhood and the city kids we are losing to the drug and crime problems.

Let’s save the kids.
