Richard Lowers Jr., 80, of Chicora died Thursday night at the Sugar Creek Rest with his family by his side.

He was born in Petrolia, June 4, 1930, to John Lowers and Edith Adams Lowers.

He was a life-long resident of the area, enjoying camping, boating, traveling and hunting with his son, grandson and friends.

He retired from Witco Chemical Co., Petrolia, after 47 years' employment.

He was a former member of the Kittanning East Brady Masonic Lodge 244.

He is survived by his wife, June Byrnes McGrady Lowers, who he married Feb. 14, 2004; two daughters, Kathleen Perrine and her husband, Harry, of Clarion and Sharon O'Donnell and her husband, Pat, of Chicora; one son, Bruce Lowers and his wife, Roberta, of Worthington; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Rich was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Roseann Dickson Lowers, who he married June 10, 1949, and who died June 4, 2002; one great-grandson; and two brothers, Donald Lowers and Sam Lowers.
