Richard A. Jackson
Richard A. “Dick” Jackson, 70, of Parker passed away at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Parker Personal Care Home following an illness.
Born in Parker, May 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Albert Joseph “Skip” and Marjorie J. Funkhouser Jackson.
Dick was a lifelong member of the former St. Mary Catholic Church at Parker.
He had been employed by the former Glass Containers Corp. of Parker until his retirement. Most of his employment was in the mold-making department.
Mr. Jackson was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army with the rank of specialist four after serving from 1964 to 1966. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was the first Vietnam veteran to join the American Legion of Parker following his service obligation. In addition to the legion, he was a member of the VFW Post 7073 of Parker.
He graduated from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in 1960.
Surviving are one sister, Lana (James) Mardis of New Castle; two brothers, William Thomas (Rosalie) of Parker and James A. (Norma) of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
<B>JACKSON </B>— Visitation for Richard A. “Dick” Jackson, who died Saturday, June 4, 2011, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, 201 S. Wayne Ave., Parker. Blessing services will follow at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home with Monsignor Jan Olowin of the St. Michael Parish at Emlenton officiating.
