Joseph A. Weber
Joseph A. Weber, 79, of Lyndora passed away Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Butler May 24, 1932, and was the son late John and Mary Okarma Weber.
Joe was a graduate of Butler High School, Class of 1950.
He was employed at Pullman Standard as a welder for 27 years, retiring when the plant closed. He also formerly was employed in the maintenance department at the Butler Mall.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
Joe was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora.
He was an avid sports fan, and he enjoyed gardening and loved music, especially polkas.
He was affectionately known as “Mel” to his family and friends because of his love for cooking, especially chili and haluski.
Surviving is his wife, Sophie Kuminkoski Weber, to whom he was married to for 51 years. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Mackey and her husband, John, of Missouri, Mrs. Kathy Fruchtenicht and her husband, David, of Virginia Beach, Va., Mrs. Laura McCoy and her husband, Kirk, of Renfrew and Mrs. Sharon Herring and her husband, Joseph, of Butler; one son, Joseph Lalich of Butler; one brother, Edward Weber of Butler; one sister, Mrs. Helen Phillips of Butler; and four grandchildren, Barbara Minnehan, Michelle Snyder, John Mitchell Mackey and Sophia Herring. Also four great-grandchildren survive.
<B>WEBER</B> — Friends of Joseph A. Weber, who died Monday, June 6, 2011, will be received in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.Members of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at the church at 9:35 a.m. Friday to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
