Raymond Proserpi
Raymond H. Proserpi, 93, of Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople, passed away Thursday.
Born Feb. 8, 1918, in Tulsa, Okla., he was the son of Ernest and Anna (Ragsdale) Proserpi.
Mr. Proserpi was raised in Springfield, Mo. After high school he enlisted in the 203rd Coast Artillery and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. During that time Mr. Proserpi was accepted to Officer Candidate School. In November 1948, he was stationed in Germany as part of the Allied Occupation after World War II. He served in Germany for 5½ years and continued serving his country until retiring as a major after 28 years of service.
Following his Army retirement, Mr. Proserpi was employed by Equifax for more than 20 years, working in New Jersey, Virginia, and Florida.
Following his retirement from Equifax, Mr. Proserpi was active in the Elks, holding the office of secretary. He and his wife lived in Jupiter, Fla., for more than 20 years before moving to Passavant Retirement Community in 1998.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Schiavone of New Jersey; two grandsons, David Schiavone of Maryland and Craig Schiavone of New Jersey; two great-grandchildren, Trevor Schiavone and Kayla Schiavone of New Jersey; two stepchildren, Marilyn Crawford (William) of Sewickley and Lawrence Miles (Nancy) of Maryland; three step grandsons, Scott Crawford of Washington, Douglas Crawford of Georgia, and Lawrence Miles Jr. of California; and two step great-grandsons, Colin and Dylan Crawford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; one sister, Dorothy Adams; and one brother, Robert Proserpi.
