Halahurich

William Halahurich, 82, of Lyndora died Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

Born in Lyndora, Dec. 25, 1928, he was a son of Alec and Eva Povovich Halah-urich.

Bill retired from the labor department of the Butler plant of the Armco Steel Corp., where he had been employed for 45 years.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served six years in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, the Michael Kosar American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora and the Armco Veterans Club.

Surviving are his son, Robert J. Halahurich and his wife, Sherri, of Cabot; two grandsons, Dustin and Travis Halahurich; and his loving companion, Mae Duffy, and her family of Butler.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Alec Halahurich, who died Feb. 5, 1989. As the last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

<B>HALAHURICH </B>— At the request of William Halahurich, who died Monday, June 27, 2011, there will be no visitation. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. July 9 at the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. Robert Oravetz, pastor, will officiate. Private inurnment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.Military honors will be conducted at the church entrance by the Ceremonial Honor Guard of American Legion Post 778 and the VFW Butler Post 249.The family suggests that, if desired, memorial donations be sent to the Michael Kosar Post 778 of the American Legion, 150 Legion Memorial Lane, Butler, PA 16001.Arrangements are under the direction of <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, and information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
