Heist 65th anniversary
Mary and Charles Heist Jr of Butler celebrated 65 years of marriage with an open house and family dinner May 22 at the Hardwood Cafe.
Heist married the former Mary Varljen on May 25, 1946.
They have six children, Ronald Heist of Butler, Cathy Heist of Santa Fe, N.M., Debra Heist of Butler, Timothy Heist of Hollidaysburg, James Heist of Ellicott City, Md., and Christine Holt of Chicora.
They also have five grandchildren.
Heist is retired from Butler County Ford and his notary business. He is a life member of the American Legion, VFW and Herman volunteer fire department. He is a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air force.
Mrs. Heist is a homemaker. She is a member of the women's council.
The Heists also are both members of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, United Commercial Travelers and the Antique Car Club of Butler.
