Eunice Baumgarten Nevins, 101, formerly of College Street, Butler, died Saturday at New Haven Court Assisted Living in Butler.

Born Nov. 12, 1909, in Bruin, she was a daughter of the late Frederick A. and Emma (Helfrich) Baumgarten.

Eunice attended Bruin schools and graduated from East Brady High School and from the Iron City Business College.

She first was employed by South Side Hospital in Pittsburgh, and in the fall of 1928, she took a position with T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co., retiring after 50 years as a purchasing agent.

She was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler; was a member and past president of the St. Peter Women's Council; a member of the Butler Business & Professional Women's Club, where she was named business woman of the year; member and past president of the Alpha Club; charter member of the Intermediate League; member and past president of the Lions Club Auxiliary; member and past president of the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, having been a hospital volunteer for over 20 years and was named auxiliarian of the year in 1990; member and past president of the Northwest Region of Pennsylvania Association of Hospital Auxiliaries; and member and past president of the GFWC Woman's Club of Butler. She also belonged to several bridge clubs.

Surviving are her sister, Eva Moreland of Florida; a brother, Richard F. Baumgarten of Gibsonia; seven nieces, Carol Ambrose, Susan Cameron, Maribeth Reeder, Amy Padgett, Gretchen Brafford, M. Kristine Broge and Katrina Moore; three nephews: Philip Moreland, Mark Baumgarten and Bruce Bailey; and 21 great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford R. Nevins, who she married July 26, 1932, and who died May 15, 1971; an infant son; an infant daughter; two infant sisters; a sister, Ruth Bailey; and a brother, William J. Baumgarten.

<B>NEVINS </B>— Friends of Eunice Baumgarten Nevins, who died Saturday, July 9, 2011, will be received at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. The Rev. James Dolan, pastor, will officiate. Internment will follow in the St. Peter Parish Cemetery, Butler.The Women’s Council of St. Peter will meet at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
