Albert J. 'Buss' Hoover

Albert J. “Buss” Hoover, 83, a 53-year resident of Riverside Drive, Grove City, died unexpectedly at 4:20 p.m. Monday at Grove City Medical Center.

Born in Claytonia, Oct. 26, 1927, he was the son of Albert Sherman Hoover and Katherine Elizabeth Hillard Hoover.

He first married Betty Lou Eperthener on July 15, 1950, and she died Dec. 2, 1977. He married Betty Kelley on July 26, 1978; and she died Dec. 27, 2007.

Buss retired from Cooper Energy Services in 1988, where he was a pipe fitter for 35 years.

Mr. Hoover was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.

Buss served in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of the F&AM Lodge 603 of Grove City, the New Castle Consistory, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1637 of Mercer, the American Legion Post 220 of Grove City, the VFW Post 519 of Grove City, the Italian Home Club of Greenville and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1895 of Grove City.Surviving are five children, Verna Mae “Susie” Richards of Harrisville, Katherine “Kate” Jean Davis of Grove City, LuAnn McFadden of Grove City, Albert J. “Buzz” Hoover Jr. of Grove City and Arthur D. “Art” Hoover and his wife, Michelle, of Forestville; a sister, Bonnie Hoover of Dallas, Texas; six brothers, John Hoover and his wife, Martina, of Portersville, M.V. “Bud” Hoover and his wife, Ella, of Harrisville, Gilbert E. Hoover and his wife, Donna, of Claytonia, Walter L. Hoover and his wife, Jean, of Unionville, Thomas R. Hoover and his wife, Mary Lou, of Slippery Rock and Ray Hoover of Portersville; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandsons.In addition to his parents and his two wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Ernest Hoover; four sisters, Littie Berry, Clara Meals, Faye Tackett and Alma McCall; a daughter-in-law, Jessica Sipes Hoover; and two sons-in-law, William D. Richard and Eddie Davis.

<B>HOOVER</B> — Funeral services for Albert J. “Buss” Hoover, who died Monday, July 11, 2011, will be at <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Howard Greenfield, senior pastor of Grace United Methodist Church of Grove City, officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Burial with military honors will be at Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township, Mercer county.
