Route 528 closes for day work

JACKSON TWP — Route 528 closed this morning and will remain so during the day today, Tuesday and Wednesday,

PennDOT is doing road shoulder repairs there, said Mike Mattis, assistant manager of PennDOT’s Butler County office.

It will close at 8 a.m. and reopen after 4 p.m. each day, he said this morning.

Construction is expected to last through Wednesday, but bad weather could cause the work to run through Thursday, Mattis said.

About 5,000 feet of the road’s shoulders are rutted and need to be built back up. Two levels of blacktop will be added to the shoulders in four-foot sections after they’re milled.
