Olive Mae Sherrieb

Olive Mae Sherrieb, 94, of Jefferson Township passed away peacefully at 6 a.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries. She was formerly of Buffalo Township.

Olive was born in her family's home in Buffalo Township, Nov. 13, 1916, a daughter of the late Mary E. (Schweitzer) and Matthew Falkner.

She was the widow of Robert H. Sherrieb, who passed away in 1986.

Olive graduated from Freeport High School in 1937. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport and of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and going for walks on the Rails to Trails. She was an avid music lover and loved to play the piano and the organ. She also taught herself how to play the guitar, ukulele and the banjo.

Olive is survived by her four sons, Mervin R. Sherrieb of Houston, Texas, Gary L. (Patricia) Sherrieb of Findley, Ohio, David L. Sherrieb of Brownsville, Ohio, and Bruce M. (Sharon) Sherrieb of Freeport. She also is survived by her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Olive was preceded in death by her two sons, Harland and Rolland Sherrieb; a grandson, Ryan J. Sherrieb; four brothers, William, Elmer, Matthew and Merle Sherrieb; and five sisters, Lillian Cogley, Nellie Noble, Elizabeth McCafferty, Ruth Garbrick and Mildred Garbrick.

<B>SHERRIEB</B> — Family and friends of Olive Mae Sherrieb, who died Saturday, July 23, 2011, are being received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at <B>Redmond Funeral Home</B>, 524 High St. Freeport. A funeral service will be in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. James F. Neal officiating.
