Marian Pavlosky Wetick

Marian Pavlosky Wetick, 96, formerly of Lyndora, died Thursday morning at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 8, 1915, a daughter of the late Anna and Harry Pavlosky.

Marian was a veteran of World War II, where she was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Flight Intelligence Unit from 1943 until 1946 and received the Good Conduct Medal.

She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Ladies Guild, where she spent many hours making perogies and nut breads for its Christmas and Easter sales.

She was a former commander of the now retired Jean E. Parker Post 842 of the American Legion and was a former 50-year plus member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora. At one time, she also was a member of the Moose Ladies Auxiliary.

Before her retirement she worked for Grants and Woolworths.

Marian was an avid fisherman, joining her husband, Peter, in his fishing trips until his death in 1983. She was a collector of dolls from around the world and had an extensive collection of cookbooks as she enjoyed baking goodies for her friends and family and was well known for the hundreds of hats she wore and her love for the color purple.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Wetick; a son, Dennis Wetick and his wife, Kathy (Geibel) Wetick.

Surviving are her son, Duane (Martha) Wetick of Fairview, Erie County; three grandchildren, Christine Wetick (Derek Eison) of Pittsburgh and Daniel Wetick and Amanda Wetick, both of Fairview, Erie County; a great-grandchild, Magenta Eison of Pittsburgh; and her dear friend and guardian, Loretta Jones of Butler.

<B>WETICK</B> — Friends of Marian Pavlosky Wetick, who died Thursday, July 28, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Paisius McGrath, her church pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
