Evelyn P. (Wain) Rapp, 90, of Scottsboro, Ala., died Saturday at Highlands Hospital, Scottsboro, following a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William E. Rapp Jr.; a daughter, Beverly Jean Rapp; brothers, Charles Wain and A. Richard Wain; and a sister, Sylvia Lachimia. Her parents were Walter E. and Elsie M. Wain of Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Rapp is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Rapp Sabia and her husband, Arthur A. Sabia Jr., and a granddaughter, Susan Elizabeth Sabia, all of Scottsboro; nieces, Joanne Dobrzanski of Colliers, W.Va., and Yvonne Dobrzanski of Zelienople; nephews, John Dobrzanski of Zelienople, Richard Dobrzanski and his wife, Cathy, of Gaithersburg, Md., Richard Wain of Cranberry Township and Richard Lachimia of Wexford; and four devoted and loving caregivers.

Born in Pittsburgh, Dec. 3, 1920, Mrs. Rapp graduated from Perry High School in 1938.

She married William E. Rapp Jr., in 1947 and the couple moved to Zelienople with Halstead Industries. In 1973, they moved to Scottsboro with the company.

Mrs. Rapp was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 485 of Zelienople and a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International.

A former member of the Park United Presbyterian Church in Zelienople, she was a current member of the Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Both Mrs. Rapp and her husband were involved with the construction of the Rapp Engineering Center at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, and the Sabia-Rapp wing in the new Walter Hall at Muskingum University.

With her warm smile and gracious spirit, Mrs. Rapp was a quiet benefactor of many national organizations and a sincere and loyal supporter of numerous local charities.

<B>RAPP</B> — Visitation for Evelyn P. (Wain) Rapp, who died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Scottsboro Funeral Home, </B>1502 County Park Road, Scottsboro, Ala. The body will lie in state from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 315 S. Kyle St., followed by the funeral at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Roy W. Hall presiding. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Scottsboro.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to the Scottsboro or Zelienople Rotary Foundations.
