James Paul Jack
James “Jim” Paul Jack, 81, of Butler, formerly of Karns City, passed away Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Fairview, March 20, 1930, the son of Robert and Pauline (Murtland) Jack.
Jim lived in the Petroleum Valley all his life.
He was a Karns City High School alumnus, Class of 1948.
He honorably served his country during the Korean War as a mechanic in the U.S. Army.
Jim married LaVonne Shively June 22, 1951. This summer marked their 60th wedding anniversary.
He worked for Witco as a welder and yard supervisor for 38 years before his retirement in 1992.
His memberships included the Masonic Argyle Lodge 540 of Chicora, the New Castle Consistory and the American Legion Post 488 of Bradys Bend.
Jim took great pride in his garden and enjoyed tinkering with things around the house with his sidekick, LaVonne, by his side.
His focus throughout life was always his wife and children, and his greatest joy was being “Papa” to Nicholas. Jim was devoted to his family and selfless in his unconditional love of them all.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, LaVonne (Shively) Jack of Butler; his son, Nicholas Graham at home; his daughter, Kim Henneberg and her husband, Gabrael, of Valencia; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Zanicky and Karinne Henneberg; one brother, Larry Jack and his wife, Sue, of Butler; three sisters, Janet Gadsby and her husband, Jack, of Titusville, Dorothy Schoenfeld and her husband, Bill, of Canfield, Ohio, and Carol Shmidt and her husband, Carl, of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Claude Jack, Orland Jack, Harold Jack and Donald Jack.
<B>JACK</B> — Relatives and friends of James “Jim” Paul Jack, who died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia, where a Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wade Berkey officiating.
