Norma J. Hackbarth, 78, of Main Street, Chicora, died at 5:35 a.m. Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Mrs. Hackbarth was born Sept. 16, 1933, in Butler. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie Brothers Piper.

She was a longtime member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church in Butler.

She was a football fan and enjoyed watching classic movies. She especially enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norma retired from Butler Memorial Hospital after 25 years. She also had been employed as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Butler.

She was married on June 30, 1951, in Karns City to Alvin D. “Pete” Hackbarth, and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1972.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon L. Zinkhann and her husband, Art, of Butler and Connie Parker and her husband, David, of Chicora; two sons, John Hackbarth and his wife, Julie, of Chicora and David Hackbarth of Artesia, N.M.; five grandchildren, Brian Parker and his wife, Tina, of Chicora, Angie Marshall and her husband, Tom, of Downingtown, Chester County, Chad Zinkhann of Butler, Travis Zinkhann and his wife, McKenna, of Butler, and Wesley Hackbarth of Chicora; five great-grandchildren, Brianna and Emily Parker, Aiden and Jackson Marshall and Bentley Zinkhann; and a sixth great-grandchild, Carter, whose birth Norma was anxiously awaiting. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Oiler of Florida.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela; a granddaughter, Alia Hackbarth; a sister, Shirley Wimer; and a brother, Jack Piper.

HACKBARTH — Friends of Norma J. Hackbarth, who died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, will be received at the

Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Private funeral services will be Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Aull, her church pastor, officiating.
