Lois Opal King
Lois Opal King, 92, of Chicora, formerly of Queen Junction, passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born March 2, 1919, in Concord Township, the daughter of the late Elias I. and B. Alvina (Fleming) King.
Lois graduated from Maryville College before graduating from Biblical Seminary in New York. She served for 10 years in Angola, West Africa, where she supervised mission schools. After returning home, she spent 30 years as a fourth-grade teacher at Summit Elementary.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and had been attending the Chicora Alliance Church and the Faith Fellowship Church.
Surviving are a brother, John C. King of Chicora; a sister, Ruby Wind of Chicora; and 14 nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death a brother, Wycliffe E. King, and a sister, Chelcie Moore.
<B>KING</B> — Friends of Lois Opal King, who died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, will be received at <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, Main Street, West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Additional visitation will be Monday from 10 until the time of services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with her nephew, Paul King, officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery.
