Janice Varan, 83, of Clintonville passed away Saturday at the Presque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Erie.

Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Clintonville, she was the daughter of Durant and Edna Sloan Ekis.

Janice received her education at the Harmony Grove School, and later she attended Clintonville High School.

Janice worked for many years with Dr. Newell in Clintonville as a licensed practical nurse.

She was a lifelong member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Clintonville.

Janice volunteered her time in many organizations in Clintonville. She was a member of the Women's Club in Clintonville, holding many offices throughout her membership; she was a charter member of the Clintonville TOPS group, having helped with getting that started; she was in the women's auxiliary for the Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department; and when her heath permitted, she was a very active member of the Clintonville Water Authority and was on council for many years.

Janice enjoyed spending time with her family and going on day trips with her granddaughters.

Surviving are her daughter, Vickie Weber and her husband, Denny, of Clintonville; her two granddaughters, Megan and Ashley Weber, both of Clintonville; and a sister, Patty Causer of Grove City. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lorraine Parenti.

<B>VARAN</B> — The family of Janice Varan, who died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, will receive friends at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Lola Turnbull of the Grace United Methodist in Clintonville officiating.
