Floyd L. “Bud” Schnur Jr., 71, of Johnsburg, Ill., formerly of Butler, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at the Northern Illinois Medical Ceneter Emergency Department in McHenry, Ill.

He was born in Butler on Oct. 13, 1939, a son of the late Floyd Sr. and Ora Grenet Schnur.

Bud had moved to Illinois in 1977. He had worked for many years in operations and transportation for American Hardware and for Marmon Keystone in Butler, and then the Thypin Steel Corp. and Morton Grove Pharmaceutical in Morton Grove, Ill., from where he retired.

He had proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge 64 in Butler, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. He was a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Butler.

He was a long time coach for various sports teams in Butler County as he loved children and enjoyed working with youth to teach them life's lessons and to help them achieve their potential in life, athletics and community service.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl Juste Schnur, who he married Dec. 23, 1989; two children, Ronald and his wife, Rebecca, Schnur of Evergreen, Colo., and Daniella Schnur of Johnsburg; three stepchildren, Natalie Desmangles of Miami, Fla., Stanley (Kelly) Desmangles of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Amy Desmangles of Johnsburg; five brothers, Guy “Butch” (Giesla) Schnur, Larry J. (Carol) Schnur, James “Dee” (Leslie) Schnur, Jeffrey (Pam) Schnur, and Douglas (Sissy) Schnur, all of Butler; three sisters, Carol Leasure of New Castle, Sherry (Mickey) Uram of Butler and Deborah Madden of Cranberry township; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

<B>SCHNUR</B> — Friends of Floyd L. “Bud” Schnur Jr., who died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. The Rev. James W. Dolan, pastor, will officiate.Interment with military honors provided by the Ceremonial Honor Guard from the VFW Post 249, Butler, and the American Legion Post 778, Lyndora, will be at St. Peter Cemetery, Butler.The family requests that memorial donations could be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.
