Floyd L. “Bud” Schnur Jr., 71, of Johnsburg, Ill., formerly of Butler, died unexpectedly Wednesday at the Northern Illinois Medical Center Emergency Department, McHenry, Ill.

Bud was born in Butler on Oct. 13, 1939, a son of Floyd Sr., and Ora Grenet Schnur, who are deceased.

He moved to Illinois in 1997. He worked for many years in operations and transportation, first for American Hardware and Marmon Keystone in Butler, and then for Thypin Steel Corp. and Morton Grove Pharmaceutical in Morton Grove, Ill., from where he retired.

Bud proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge 64 in Butler, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. He was formerly a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Butler.

Bud was a longtime coach for various sports teams in Butler County, as he loved children and enjoyed working with youths to teach them life's lessons and to help them achieve their potential in life, athletics and community service.

Bud is survived by his wife, Pearl Juste Schnur, whom he married Dec. 23, 1989; children Ronald Schnur and his wife Rebecca, of Evergreen, Colo., and Daniella Schnur of Johnsburg; three stepchildren, Natalie Desmangles of Miami, Fla., Stanley (Kelly) Desmangles of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Amy Desmangles of Johnsburg.

Bud also is survived by five brothers, Guy ‘Butch' (Gisela) Schnur, Larry J. (Carol) Schnur, James “Dee” (Leslie) Schnur, Jeffery (Pam) Schnur, and Douglas (Sissy) Schnur, who all live in Butler.

His three sisters also survive him, Carol Leasure of New Castle, Deborah Madden of Cranberry Township and Sherri (Mickey) Uram of Butler, along with six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

<B>SCHNUR</B> — Friends of Floyd L. “Bud” Schnur, Jr., who died Wednesday evening, Aug. 31, 2011, will be received at <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME,</B> 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. The Rev. James W. Dolan, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at St. Peter Cemetery, Butler, with military honors provided by the ceremonial honor guard from VFW Post 249, Butler, and American Legion Post 778, Lyndora.The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235
