Paul E. Bullman, Petrolia council president
Paul Eugene Bullman, 50, of Taylor Street, Petrolia, a well-known Petrolia community leader, died Saturday evening at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Shadyside following a brief but courageous battle with leukemia.
Paul was born in Butler, Oct. 19, 1960. He was the son of Ernest Eugene and Roberta Sutton Bullman.
He was a longtime member of the Fairview United Presbyterian Church and had been a member and elder at the Petrolia Presbyterian Church.
Paul was a 1978 graduate of Karns City High School and attended Butler County Community College.
Paul had been employed for more than 30 years with Dick McCall Inc. in Petrolia.
At the time of his passing, Paul was president of Petrolia Borough Council, a position he had held for the past 10 years. He served on the board of directors of the Petroleum Valley Water Authority.
He was a longtime active member of the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department, having served the department as president and fire chief, as well as various other administrative and line officer positions. He was the shop steward at Dick McCall Inc. for Local IAM 2430 for many years. He was a member of the Kaylor American Legion Post 488 in Bradys Bend.
For more than 35 years, Paul had been involved in both playing and coaching various baseball and softball teams. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed hunting.
Surviving are three sisters and one brother, Nancy Gifford and her husband, Larry, of Petrolia, Darlene K. Shay of Niles, Ohio, Ernest F. Bullman of Houtzdale, and Bonnie J. Marzik and her husband, Gerald, of Kennerdell; six nieces and nephews, Larry Gifford and his wife, Monica, Sharon Hart and her husband, Clay, Kevin Shay, Karri Comer, Ernie Bullman Jr., and Jade Bullman; two great-nieces, Madelyn Comer and Hannah Hart; three great-nephews, Austin and Devin Comer, and Ethan Hart; two aunts, Eunice Ealy and Jane Bullman; and a number of cousins and many friends.
Mr. Bullman was preceded by his parents, Ernest Eugene Bullman, who died Sept. 20, 2009, and Roberta Sutton Bullman, who died June 5, 2001. Also preceding him in death was Brandy, his yellow lab retriever.

Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Friends also will be received from noon until 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the Fairview Presbyterian Church, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Bunting, church pastor, officiating.
