Helen May Garrett Wimer
Helen May Garrett Wimer of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Madison Heights, Mich., passed away July 31 in the home of her daughter, Linda Perez in Oxford, Mich. She was 83.
Helen was born March 19, 1928, in New Wilmington to Henry and Edith Gilmore Garrett.
She graduated from Grove City High School in 1945, and she married Henry D. Wimer in Cumberland, Md., on June 4, 1945.
They lived in the Saxonburg area where Mrs. Wimer was employed by Moonlight Mushroom Mine in Winfield Township.
Following retirement, the Wimers moved to Mount Clemens, Mich., where she was employed in mental health services for the state.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Perez and her husband, Al, of Oxford, Mich.; her son, Dennis Wimer of Madison Heights, Mich.; five grandchildren, Natalie Bohner and her husband, Eric, of Chicago, A.J. Perez and his wife, Laura, of Highland Ranch, Colo., Sgt. Steven Wimer and his wife, Norah, active with the U.S. Marine Corps, Samantha Snyder and her husband Eric, of Georgia and Sarah Wimer of Albuquerque, N.M.; and five great-grandchildren, Alena and Luke Perez, Ellison and Brooks Bohner and Clark Snyder.
Also surviving are four sisters, Margaret Alberth, Erma Burrows and her husband, Lawrence, Ruth McDowell and her husband, Harvey, and Mary Ellen Weber and her husband, Dick, all of Grove City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
