The Butler Golden Tornado Marching Band and the Butler Senior High School Chorus have been added to the program of the United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus concert Tuesday. The show will begin at 7 p.m. in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

Twelve members of the high school band and eight members of the high school chorus will perform with the Army ensemble.

The BHS instrumentals who will be performing are: Sarah Stovar, Hannah McCarrier, Rochelle Snyder, Brittany Slupe, Jennifer Croft, Collin Campbell, Natalie Smith, Olivia Pascazi, Zachary Woessner, Matt Cole, Bradley Bailey, and Josh Stauffer.

BHS chorus members to perform include Tiffany Kefallas, Robin Schmeider, Marlee Manuel, Stephanie Miller, Michael Alexander, Matthew Blose, Mark Boyce and Theo Peterson.

In addition, the Butler Senior High School JROTC will provide the Color Guard for the concert and serve as ushers.

Tickets were free, but the concert is sold out. The event is sponsored by The Butler Eagle.

The evening’s program will include “Hands Across the Sea” by John Philip Sousa, “Roman Carnival Overture” by Hector Berlioz, “American Overture for Band” by Joseph Willcox Jenkins (guest conductor for this selection will be Edwin Arnold, chairman of the Grove City College department of music and fine arts) and “Sinfonia Concertante” by Mozart, among other selections.

Field band members are soldier-musicians who have studied at the country’s leading conservatories and schools of music, performed with major symphonies, and taught at universities before entering the service. The Soldiers Chorus, the vocal complement of the band, is made up of 29 vocalists.

The Army Field Band’s concert repertoire is designed to appeal to all audiences, offering classical, semiclassical and popular selections, choral arrangements, novelty numbers and military marches.

The concert tour that incorporates the Butler show began Oct. 6 and will continue through Nov. 17.
