Lary S. Gilbert, 83, of Cranberry Township died Monday at his home.

Born April 26, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of the late Philip and Bettina Buffa Gilbert.

Mr. Gilbert was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church, Cranberry Township.

He loved playing his piano and reading.

He is survived by three daughters, Lauri Gilbert-Osburn and her husband, Daniel, of Novi, Mich., Lisa Gilbert of Cranberry Township and Linda Whalen and her husband, Mike, of Farmington, Mich; a son, Michael Gilbert of Cranberry Township; a brother, Father Philip Gilbert of Rensselaer, Ind.; five grandchildren, Justin Comer and his wife, Robin, Dominick Comer and his wife, Lauren, Chase Comer and his wife, Sarah, Trevor Kula and Sarah Kula; and five great-grandchildren, Weston, Spencer, Sylvia, Gage and Todd Comer.

He was preceded in death by a son, Craig Gilbert; and his wife, Carol Gilbert, who he married March 22, 1959.

GILBERT — A memorial service for Lary S. Gilbert, who died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hope Lutheran Church, 8070 Rowan Road, Cranberry Township, with the Rev. Ronald A. Brown officiating.
