The Butler County Historical Society's 2012 History of Transportation in Butler County calendars are available.The full size, 12-month wall calendar is available at May's Music Shoppe, Miller's Shoe Store, Worsley's, Natili's North, the Hair Specialist and the Lowrie/Shaw House.

Friends of the library will have a book sale from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Butler Area Public Library.

ZELIENOPLE — Passavant Retirement Community has a new volunteer program called Silver Spoons.Volunteers will work one-on-one with a nursing resident in need of extra attention during meal time.A classroom training date will be held the week of Nov. 7.Interested volunteers must be older than 18 and submit an application by Friday.Applications and more information can be obtained by calling the PRC Outreach Office at 724-453-5414 or visiting the website www.lutheranseniorlife.org.

MARS — The following events are happening at Mars Library:- Mother and daughter book club, 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. second Wednesday of each month, for mothers with their daughters ages 6 to 12.- Halloween costume party, 11 a.m. Oct. 29.- Give thanks for books feast, 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 12 for young readers.<B>
