Ellsworth Harrison Buchanan Jr. Dolores Maria Buchanan

Ellsworth Harrison Buchanan Jr. and his wife, Dolores Maria Buchanan, of Fairview Township went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 7.

Dolores was born June 26, 1925, in Taretan, Michoacan, Mexico. She was the daughter of the late Jose Lopez and Esther Espinosa Lopez. She had one sister, Salud Lopez E., and one brother, Jesus Lopez, who lived out their lives in Mexico.

Dolores was a homemaker, and she was proud to become a U.S. citizen in July 1977.

Dolores loved to share her heritage by making beautiful crocheted and handcrafted beaded items and giving them as gifts.

Ellsworth “Jr.” was born July 7, 1928, in Butler. He was the eldest son of the late Ellsworth and Bessie Kuhn Buchanan.

Ellsworth Jr. served in the Navy and later retired from Butler Memorial Hospital.

Jr. had a contagious smile and was loved by everyone who knew him. He loved to read and could always be found at the nearest yard sale. His favorite pastime, however, was roller skating. To many, he will be remembered as the man who taught them how to skate.

Jr. and Dolores were married March 8, 1961. They lived a simple life, sharing a mutual passion for gardening, and they also enjoyed traveling to Mexico. Both Jr. and Dolores were active in their church and loved to help anyone who had a need.

Jr.'s siblings, George Buchanan of Butler, Hazel Robson of Karns City and Dorothy Mincer of East Butler, survive. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and Mexico.

Jr. and Dolores were preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Betty Buchanan; two brother-in-laws, Charlie Robson and Howard Mincer; and by numerous family members in the United States and Mexico.

<B>BUCHANAN</B> — The late Ellsworth Harrison Buchanan “Jr.” and his wife, Dolores Maria (Lopez) Buchanan, who died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, will be honored and remembered at a memorial service at 2 p.m. Oct. 9 at the East Butler Presbyterian Church. Family and friends of Jr. and Dolores will be received after the service for a time of fellowship and refreshments.Arrangements are being handled by <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, Butler.
