Robert Elgin Daubenspeck
Robert Elgin Daubenspeck, 68, of 112 Redwater Way, Greer, S.C., left the pain of life to join his son, JR, in his everlasting life Friday.
A native of Butler, he was a son of the late Elgin Curtis and Dorothy Williams Daubenspeck, and was a retired employee of TruServ hardware company.
He was a 4-year U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart. He served aboard the USS Tiru and on the USS Cavalier.
He was president of the Augusta Blind Rehabilitation Center Alumni Association and a member of Taylors Lions Club.
Surviving is his loving wife of 44 years, Helen Gallagher Daubenspeck at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shellie and Bill Roberts of Greer; a daughter, Mary Daubenspeck of Spartanburg, S.C.; one brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Tammy Daubenspeck of Butler; one sister, Cheryl Keenan of Greensburg; and three grandchildren, Libby, Emmy and Ellie Roberts.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Elgin Daubenspeck Jr.
He loved his family and his guide dog, Leisel, above all else.
