Clarence 'Ed' E. Davis
Clarence “Ed” E. Davis, 88, of Butler passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born May 15, 1923, in Sligo, the son of the late Samuel James and Alice (Vogel) Davis.
Ed was a member of the Oak Hills Christian Church, where he was an elder emeritus.
He graduated from Cranberry High School in Venango County and Slippery Rock State Teachers College, and he received his master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
He taught school for 32 years between the Lyndora and Butler Junior High schools.
Ed was a member of the New Castle Consistory and a 32nd degree Mason from the William H. Miller Lodge 769 F&AM.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps., a member of the American Legion in Prospect and the Consistory Legion of Honor and a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Repine-Davis; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Darryl (Paula) Kearns of Butler and Mrs. Michael (Janice) Arnold of Pawleys Island, S.C.; three step-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille E. Barr Davis, who died May 14, 1992; two sisters; two brothers, and a stepdaughter.
<B>DAVIS</B> — Friends of Clarence “Ed” E. Davis, who died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, will be received at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon with his pastor, the Rev. Phillip Conyers Jr., officiating.
