Thomas Glasgow
Thomas M. Glasgow, 53, of Virginia Beach, Va., passed away Wednesday at Sentara Hospital in Virginia Beach after a brief illness.
Thomas Glasgow retired from the U.S. Army after 29 years of service and continued in his civilian career supporting U.S. intelligence activities through the Joint Reserve Intelligence Program (JRIP). His unwavering commitment and dedication to JRIP for over a decade has placed the program at the forefront of military information technologies in the Defense Intelligence Agency.
He was the chief architect, visionary and leader of a remarkable team responsible for networking and managing information technology at 28 geographically separate sites that enabled access to our nation's intelligence community for more than 6,000 Department of Defense and government employees. The significance of his work was of national importance and representative of his outstanding professionalism and patriotism.
He was born Dec. 26, 1957, in Pittsburgh. He is survived by his mother and father, Shirley and Arthur Renick.
Mr. Glasgow also is survived by his wife, Joni Glasgow of Virginia Beach; six children, Amanda Frederick and her husband, Jon, Braden Kiser, Shane Kiser and Sarah Kiser, all of Butler, Daylin Glasgow of Virginia Beach and Ashten Glasgow of Harrisburg; one grandson, Zac Frederick of Butler; siblings, Caroline Rodgers and her husband, Richard, of Chicora, William Glasgow and his wife, Janet, of Pittsfield, Pa., Donald Glasgow and his wife, Diane, of West Sunbury, Mark Glasgow and his wife, Karen, of Cranberry Township, Ruth Malinak and her husband, Todd, of West Sunbury, Susan Wegrzynek and her husband, Mike, of Grove City and Kathy White of Virginia Beach, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William M. Glasgow, and his brother, Robert Lee Glasgow, who was killed in Vietnam in 1969.
<B>GLASGOW</B> — Friends of Thomas M. Glasgow, who died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, will be received at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday and from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Rider Lutheran Church, West Sunbury. Burial will take place in the Rider Lutheran Cemetery.Officers and members of the military will conduct military services at the Rider Lutheran Church.Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors.
