Larry J. Kunder, 60, of Zelienople passed away Thursday in UPMC Passavant Hospital, North Hills.

Born, Oct. 23, 1950, in Rochester, he was a son of James and Virginia Reali Kunder of Rochester Township.

He was a retired CEO of the National Rehab, Moon Township, and was a former employee and president of the former Liken Home Medical, East Rochester.

He was a member of St. Gregory Roman Catholic Parish, Zelienople.

He was a Vietnam War era veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a black belt in Shotokan Karate, where he was involved for more than 30 years. He was an avid participant in cycling, running and soccer and was an animal rights advocate.

He was a 1968 graduate of Rochester High School and received his bachelor's degree in history from Millersville State College and then attended the University of Pittsburgh.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Candy R. Roorback Kunder; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darcie A. Kunder and her husband, J.D. Foster, of Madison, Wis., and Jamie L. Kunder and her husband, Jay Smith, of Alexandria, Va.; a son, Shane L. Kunder of Pittsburgh; his mother-in-law, Joyce Roorback of Boardman, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, James R. Kunder and his wife, Robbin Boyer, of Alexandria, Va.; a nephew, James R. Kunder of Alexandria, Va.; several beloved brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bill Roorback, in 2005.

<B>KUNDER</B> — Friends of Larry J. Kunder, who died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in the Passavant Seaman Memorial Chapel of the Zelienople Retirement Community, where services will follow at 6:30 p.m. The <B>William Murphy Funeral Home</B>, Rochester, is in charge of arrangements.The family wishes contributions be given to Moraine State Park, Moraine Preservation Fund, in memory of Larry J. Kunder, 118 North Shore Drive, Portersville, PA 16051 or to the Strand Theatre Renovation Project, c/o Ron Carter, in memory of Larry Kunder, 119 N. Main Street, Zelienople, PA 16063.
