Alan David Moore, 50, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Thursday at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix after a bout with cancer.

He was born Sept. 15, 1961, in Grove City. He was the youngest of six children born to Albert LaVerne Moore and Nancy Ann Scott Moore.

Mr. Moore graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1980. In 1982, he graduated from the ITT Technician training school’s electrical and HVAC programs in McKees Rocks.

He moved to Phoenix, that same year and began a successful career in the hotel industry. As a highly regarded director of engineering, his career afforded him the opportunity to live in many states and countries but eventually led him back to Phoenix.

Mr. Moore belonged to many professional organizations including the Phoenix Hotel Engineering Association (HEA) board member; the Philadelphia and Greater Atlanta HEA member; the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership member; Bethune-Cookman College curriculum adviser hospitality program; and Ocean Walk Development Council member.

Mr. Moore enjoyed life. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and overseas. Included in his many interests were hiking, especially in the mountains, working on computers and playing with his pets. But what he appreciated most was spending time with his friends and family.

Mr. Moore is survived by his mother, Nancy Moore of Prospect; and four siblings, Tim Moore and his wife, Blanky, of Miramar, Fla., Colleen Moore of Glendale, Ariz., Larry Moore and his wife, Katie, of Butler and Robin Moore Joyce and her husband, Bob, of Harrisville. He is further survived by his five nieces, Bobbie Jo Moore of Glendale, Ariz., Nickie L. Moore of Mesa, Ariz., Barbra Moore and Casey Moore of Prospect and Krysta Moore of Butler; as well as a great-nephew, Dalton Moore of Prospect. He also is survived by his beloved aunt, Ellen Barkley of Portersville; other relatives; many friends, dogs and Troj, the cat.

In addition to his father, Albert LaVerne Moore, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Moore.

MOORE — Funeral arrangements for Alan David Moore, who died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, have been entrusted to

Samaritan Funeral Home in Phoenix, Ariz. At Mr. Moore’s request, there will be no visitation or memorial service.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
