Helen E. Gaiser
Helen E. Gaiser, 100, of Winfield Township passed away peacefully at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at Fair Winds Manor.
Helen was born in Freeport, Jan. 13, 1911, a daughter of the late Jennie M. (Blaine) and A. Leroy Bricker.
She was the widow of Donald E. Gaiser, who passed away in 2005.
Helen was a 1929 graduate of Freeport High School and a 1931 graduate of Slippery Rock State Teachers College.
After college, she worked for the Freeport School District for more than 40 years. Many of those years, she taught in a one-room school house.
She was a member of Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church, where she was a past deacon and Sunday school teacher. Helen was the past president and secretary of the Slate Lick Presbyterian Woman’s Association. She also was the treasurer of the quilter’s group at her church.
Helen enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Jerry D. Gaiser and Peggy Karns of Winfield Township and Larry C. and Betty Gaiser of Matthews, N.C.; five granddaughters and their spouses, Pam and Bob Warner of Boggsville, Beth and Michael Krause of Bluffton, S.C., Pamela and Chris Crawford of Winfield Township, Sheri and Ryan Brown of Belmont, N.C., and Brande and Bruce Blieman of Charlotte, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren, Christian (Randi) Foertsch, Rebecca Foertsch, Olivia and Dominic Krause, Carrie and Grant Crawford and Brooke Blieman.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Kenneth, Edwin and Charles Bricker. She also was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Gaiser.
GAISER — Family and friends of Helen E. Gaiser, who died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, are being received Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon in the social hall at the Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will follow at noon Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating.
