Richard D. Caringola
Richard D. Caringola, 68, of Butler died Saturday morning at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born June 12, 1943, in Connellsville, he was a son of the late Angelo and Elizabeth (Hoye) Caringola.
Richard graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Connellsville, received his bachelor's degree in history at St. Vincent College, his master's degree in history from the Duquesne University, his master's in guidance and counseling from Slippery Rock University and his certification in school psychology from Indiana (Pa.) University.
He was a retired school psychologist, having worked for the Butler School District for 23 years. Before that, he taught history at the St. Fidelis High School Seminary and at Moniteau High School.
He was a member of the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the Knights of Columbus 866 in Butler, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and the Pennsylvania Association of School Psychologists.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia D. (Damico) Caringola, who he married Aug. 5, 1967; two sons, Jeffery Caringola and his wife, Judith, of Valencia and Michael Caringola and his wife, Nicole, of Valencia; five grandchildren, Jesse Caringola, Jake Caringola, Jenna Caringola, Angela Caringola, and Victoria Caringola; his mother-in-law, Victoria Damico of Connellsville; and a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Caringola of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Caringola, who died April 26, 2011, and a sister.
<B>CARINGOLA</B> — Friends of Richard D. Caringola, who died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, will be received at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday. A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, North Main Street Extension, Butler. Everyone please meet at church. The Rev. James Salberg, pastor, will officiate.
