John Henry Betts

John Henry Betts, 82, of Butler passed away at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home.

He was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Waynesboro, Franklin County, to the late Ferdinand Betts and Marie Elizabeth Millhimes Betts.

Mr. Betts was a seaman in the U.S. Navy at the close of World War II and during the Korean War in various ports of call.

He was a sales engineer at Landis Machine/Teledyne until his retirement in 1991.

Mr. Betts was a 32nd Degree Free Mason.

He enjoyed boating, water skiing and coin collecting.

Mr. Betts is survived by his wife, Evelyn Elizabeth Betts, who he married June 20, 1953; two sons, John Betts and his wife, Grace, of Mechanicsburg and Kenneth Betts and his wife, Mary, of Butler; one daughter, Sharon Kleeman and her husband, Doug, of Butler; five grandchildren, Jennifer, John-Robb, Julia, Jackie and Sonya; three step-grandchildren, Nicole, Steve and Becky; nine great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ferdinand Betts; seven nieces; and four nephews.

<B>BETTS </B>— Friends of John Henry Betts, who died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. A memorial service is planned for later. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Greater Pittsburgh, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205 or to the Butler Blind Association, 322 N.
