Frank G. Druda
Frank G. Druda, 89, of Butler died Friday afternoon at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 12, 1922, in Lyndora, he was a son of the late George and Vilma (Rikal) Druda.
A 1941 graduate of Butler High School, he was a retired construction worker, having worked for various contractors and companies in the Butler area.
Frank was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora. He also was a member of the former St. John Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora, where he was a choir member for more than 30 years. He was a member of the former Holy Name Society, had been a life member of the Butler Knights of Columbus 866 since 1953 and the Slovak Club.
He played high school football and track, played football for four years for the Butler Cubs A.S.A. and one year for the University of Pittsburgh. He was inducted into the Butler Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1978, was a general sports enthusiast, especially the Pirates and Steelers, assisted for more than 30 years with Boy Scout Troop 16, sponsored by Butler Armco, and had loved music his whole life.
Surviving are his sister, Mary Chuba of Butler, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
<B>DRUDA</B> — Friends of Frank G. Druda, who died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, will be received at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 303 Penn Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. George Palick will officiate. Internment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.The bereavement committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home for a vigil service.
