CONNOQUENESSING TWP — The Butler County Humane Society will hold a microchip clinic from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 5, 10 and 21 at 1015 Evans City Road.

A microchip is the only way to permanently identify dogs or cats in the event that pets go missing.

Microchipped dogs are also eligible for a lifetime dog license in Butler County and Allegheny County.

Applications for lifetime tags for Butler and Allegheny County will be available at the clinic.

ZELIENOPLE — A 12-week series of lectures for families of those with mental illness will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. starting Jan. 14 at Passavant Retirement Community, 401 S. Main St.The National Alliance on Mental Illness Family to Family educational course is for families and friends of individuals with serious mental illness.This course is taught by trained family members who have lived the experience and will include the biology of the brain, a medication review, a communication skills workshop, knowledge and self-care skills needed to deal with their loved one's mental illness and impact on the family or friend as well as advocacy and fighting stigma.Registration is required as space is limited and classes fill quickly.Call Joan Gill at 724-453-1090 or Joyce Saunders at 724-794-1757.
