Edward Grystar
Edward Grystar, 65, of Butler died Saturday afternoon at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born in Butler on Sept. 30, 1947, a son of the late Charles and Mary Olen Grystar.
Ed was retired from the Inspection Department of Armco Steel and AK Steel, Butler plant, where he worked for 40 years. He had served as a union representative at AK Steel.
A 1965 graduate of Butler High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War, and he was awarded a Purple Heart.
An outdoors sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and especially bass fishing and had won several bass fishing tournaments. He had been president of the Bass Fishing Club.
He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn McCluskey Grystar. They married Sept. 26, 1970, and she died March 18, 2005.
Surviving are two children, Brian Grystar of Butler and Lindsay L. Grystar of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Charles Grystar and his wife, Pat, of Wisconsin; one sister, Carole Fudoli and her husband, Ron, of Butler; several nieces and a nephew, Joelle and Douglas Fudoli of Butler and Suzanne and Diana in the Chicago area; along with his good friend, Alycia McGarvey.
GRYSTAR — Friends of Edward Grystar, who died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.A blessing service will follow at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev.
