Elizabeth R. Gilchrist, 96, of Columbiana, Ohio, died Wednesday.

She was born Dec. 14, 1915, in Butler and was the daughter of John and Catherine Schmidt Nowakoski.

Mrs. Gilchrist owned and operated a beauty shop in Youngstown, Ohio. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, knitting and gardening.

Her husband, who she married Oct. 28, 1938, passed away Oct. 29,1994.

She is survived by two sons, Albert of Poland Township, Ohio, and John (Joyce) of Columbiana; three granddaughters, Cheryl (Ronnie) Stanley of Columbiana, Rebecca (Paul) Marcum of Columbiana and Rachel (Scott) Bubar of North Ridgeville, Ohio; six great-grandchildren, Mark Stanley, Kathryn Stanley, Jared Bubar, Lydia Bubar, Nathan Bubar and Aaron Marcum; and her brother, Mark Nowakoski of Butler.

The family would like to thank the staff at Greenbriar North for the concern and care they gave Elizabeth during the time she lived there.

GILCHRIST — Funeral services for Elizabeth R. Gilchrist, who died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, Ohio.
