Catherine E. 'Cathy' Rodgers Plaisted
Catherine E. “Cathy” Rodgers Plaisted, 34, of Slippery Rock died Friday afternoon at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born Sept. 14, 1978, in Butler, she was a daughter of Charles E. Rodgers Jr. and Patty A. (Adams) Rodgers.
Cathy was a 1996 graduate of Butler High School, Butler County Vocational-Technical School and the Butler Beauty School. She had worked for the Allure Salon in Butler and was the former owner of Curl Up & Dye Salon on New Castle Road.
She was a member of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, St. Fidelis Ladies Guild, St. Fidelis Choir and was a cantor at St. Fidelis. She also sang for many weddings and benefits. Cathy belonged to the Meridian Fife and Drum Corps, the Musical Theatre Guild, the Butler Little Theatre and the Butler High School Band as a drum major. Formerly she was a Girl Scout, played softball for Meridian and had been a junior miss contestant. She was a loving and kind hearted person who especially loved her cats.
Surviving are her husband, Toby S. Plaisted, who she married Aug. 15, 2009; two sons, Louis Scott Plaisted and Dominic Adam Plaisted; her parents, Charles and Patty Rodgers of Meridian; one sister, Constance E. Rodgers of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Charles E. Rodgers III and his wife, Autumn, of Lyndora; grandparents, Martha E. Fair and Richard E. Fair of Butler, Charles E. Rodgers Sr., and Mary Ruth Rodgers of Butler; father-in-law, Thomas P. Compton of Butler; mother-in-law, Robin L. Shields of New Castle; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dominic Adams.
PLAISTED — Friends of Catherine E. “Cathy” Rodgers Plaisted, who died Friday afternoon, Dec. 7, 2012, will be received at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. The Rev. James Murphy, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the Louis and Dominic Plaisted Fund, c/o NexTier Bank, P.O.
