Marilynn Christie Beatty
Marilynn Christie Beatty, 89, formerly of Butler, passed away at 2:22 p.m. Saturday at the Redstone Highlands in North Huntingdon.
She was born Oct. 30, 1923, in Connoquenessing, to the late Ralph Christie and Dorothy Hutchinson Christie.
Mrs. Beatty attended Grove City College, then Grace Martin School of Business. During World War II she enjoyed attending USO dances. When she was first married, Marilynn worked at Heckett Engineering alongside her husband. She then stayed home to raise their children. Later, she worked for Fuellgraf Electric and the Butler Elks.
Mrs. Beatty was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Butler Elks and volunteered at Lifeline. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.
Mrs. Beatty is survived by one daughter, Lisa Beatty Smarick and her husband, Sean, of North Huntingdon; one son, William S. Beatty of Denver, Colo.; and two granddaughters, Brooke and Heather Smarick.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd F. Beatty, who she married May 7, 1949, and who passed away Nov. 30, 2003; and one brother, Robert Christie.
BEATTY — Friends of Marilynn Christie Beatty, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
