STATE COLLEGE — Defensive coordinator Ted Roof is leaving Central Florida after a month to take the same position at Penn State under new coach Bill O'Brien, a person familiar with the hiring said, requesting anonymity because O'Brien wanted to formally announce his hirings at the same time.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University Athletes for Forgotten Angels left Wednesday for Haiti to help with cleanup following the latest earthquake there.SRU formed this group in 2008 and helped with the cleanup following Hurricane Katrina. This is its second trip to Haiti.SRU women's soccer coaxch Noreen Herlihy is the advisor of the group, which includes 10 student-athletes. They will be in Haiti for a week.
