Robert L. Young
Robert L. Young, 77, of Butler died Wednesday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born May 19, 1935, in Butler, he was a son of the late James Claire Young Sr., and Garnet C. (Kelley) Young.
He had worked for the Shipping Department at the A.K. Steel plant in Butler, retiring after 45 years.
He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the Knights of Columbus Council 866, the Moose Lodge 64 and the American Legion Post 117.
Robert volunteered to count collection receipts weekly at St. Paul's. He enjoyed traveling, especially visiting relatives throughout the country. He was an avid golfer, a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a NASCAR fan, having traveled to races in his motor home.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his two sisters, Anna Ruth Madden of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Dorothy J. Hetrick of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.; and one brother, James C. (Genevieve) Young Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.
He was much loved by his many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Leah Ralston and Edith Ford.
YOUNG — Friends of Robert L. Young, who died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, will be received at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. The Rev.
