Nellie I. Chanadet
Nellie I. Chanadet, 91, passed away in the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler, at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday following a four-year illness. She was formerly of Euclid Ave., Grove City, and lived in the Parker Personal Care Home for the past four years.
She was born in Stoneboro, Pa., on Oct. 5, 1921, to Charles Taylor and Inez Nicklin Taylor.
On Dec. 16, 1939, she married Albert J. Chanadet, who died June 9, 1984.
She was a homemaker, was a member of the Tower Presbyterian Church, Grove City, and also attended the Leesburg Presbyterian Church. She was a former deacon at the Tower Church and a member of the Presbyterian Women of the church. Nellie was active with Grove City Meals on Wheels. She was a former school bus driver in the Mercer Area Schools and worked along with her husband with their Arctic Cat Snowmobile business.
Surviving are two children, Charles L. Chanadet and his wife, Karen, of Grove City and Carol J. Beatty and her husband, Dean, of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Megan Shaffer and her husband, Josh, of Pittsburgh, Jonathan Chanadet and his wife, Lauren, of Pittsburgh, James A. Beatty and his wife, Janeen, of Eau Claire, Michael D. Beatty of Eau Claire and Jenna R. Beatty of Greensburg; and four great-grandchildren, Helen M. and Finn J. Shaffer and Halle Q. and Guerrin James Beatty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, A. Daniel Chanadet; and two sisters, Ruth Cozad and Ethel Campbell.
CHANADET — Visitation for Nellie I. Chanadet, who died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, will be at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Tom Gomola, pastor of the Leesburg Presbyterian Church, officiating.
