Henry A. Bratkovich
Henry A. Bratkovich, 90, formerly of Armstrong County, passed away Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Henry was born on Dec. 21, 1921, in Kaylor, and was the son of Joseph and Theresa (Lozar) Bratkovich. He married the late Frances L. (Colella) Bratkovich on June 18, 1949.
A 1941 graduate of Karns City High School, Henry enjoyed hunting and gardening. He was the former manager of the Bradys Bend Little League, the Chicora Pony League and the Chicora American Legion baseball teams.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Trinidad. Henry was a recipient of the honorable service lapel button and the honorable discharge button. For 65 consecutive years, he was a member of the Bradys Bend American Legion Post.
Henry worked for Wycoff Steel in Ambridge as a turning machine operator. Then he worked at Penn Drake (Penreco) in Karns City for 40 years.
He was a member of the St. Patrick Church, Bradys Bend, where he was a lector, Eucharistic minister, usher, a member of the Altar Rosary Society, the diocesan expansion captain and a past president of the parish council.
Henry is survived by his two sons, Stephen M. Bratkovich and his wife, Janet, of St. Paul, Minn., and Alan A. Bratkovich and his wife, Karen, of Libby, Mont.; his sister, Rose Schumacher of East Brady; his three granddaughters, Holly, Amy and Emily Bratkovich; his nieces and his nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances, who died May 15, 2006; four brothers, and four sisters.
<B>BRATKOVICH</B> — Friends of Henry Bratkovich, who died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home,</B> 105 Fourth Street, East Brady. A parish prayer service will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The American Legion Post 488 will conduct a veterans service at 7 p.m. Friday. Both services will be at the funeral home.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Patrick Church, Bradys Bend, with the Rev. William Kuba, pastor of the St. Eusebius Church, East Brady, officiating. The burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Bradys Bend.
